Privacy Policy
Status: DRAFT - needs legal review. This is a plain-English description of what the site does with your information today. It is not final legal text and has not been reviewed by an attorney.
The short version
We collect only what you give us: your email address if you join the newsletter, and the details you type into the intake form if you ask for a fix. We use them to send the newsletter or to reply about your project. We don't sell your information. This site doesn't set its own cookies or run its own analytics.
Intake form (asking for a fix)
If you submit the form at /intake, we receive:
- your name and email address;
- your project details: project link or name (if you give one), the tools you use, what is broken, what you already tried, which tier you're interested in, and how urgent it is;
- the time of submission and the page it came from.
Here is exactly where that information goes:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and runs the small program that receives the form (a Cloudflare Pages worker). Your submission passes through Cloudflare's network as it is sent. Cloudflare may also keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and request details, under its own policies. This site doesn't add a database for submissions.
- Resend is the email delivery service the worker uses to send the submission as an email. Resend processes the message content and delivery details, and may keep delivery logs under its own policies.
- Our business inbox is where that email lands. The submission is stored there, with our email provider, until we delete it.
We use what you send to read your request, reply to you (your email address is set as the reply-to), and, if you go ahead, scope and do the work. The form tells you never to send passwords, API keys, tokens or repo access, and it blocks text that looks like a secret. If you've pasted a secret anywhere, rotate it.
Newsletter signup
The signup form on the home page and the checklist page is an embed from beehiiv, our newsletter provider. When you subscribe, your email address goes to beehiiv, which stores it and sends the newsletter. Loading the form also loads scripts and a frame from beehiiv.com, which can set cookies or collect technical information under beehiiv's own policies. Loading a page with the form connects your browser to beehiiv, but your email address is only sent when you submit it. You can unsubscribe from any email.
What we haven't decided yet
These parts of the final policy are still open and will be filled in before launch:
- How long we keep intake emails and the newsletter list.
- How to ask us to access or delete your information, and a contact address for that.
- How we handle client code and project data once work starts (confidentiality, access and deletion).
- Regional requirements (for example GDPR and CCPA) and the payment processor for paid jobs.
- The physical postal address that commercial email rules require in the newsletter footer.
Each provider named above has its own privacy policy, which applies to what it does with your information.
